The inspiration for this short film came from the opening scene from the movie Calvary 2014. The script was also inspired by Ingmar Bergman's The Seventh Seal 1957. Yina and I filmed the scene by Morningside Park across from the church of Notre Dame.
My friend, Yina Wang, and I teamed up for this short film project. Prior to the production we watched, Calvary directed by John Michael McDonagh and The Seventh Seal directed by Ingmar Berman. From there we referenced some of their themes and some of their compositions. I wrote the script, and my father acted the part of the old man talking to an entity voiced by me. I used the song Darkness My Old Friend sung by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. This was filmed at Morningside Park across from the Church of Notre Dame.
